Things Are Changing

Hello lovelies! It’s been a while…

It feels so nice to actually be sitting down, taking some time out of my day and writing again. As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been majorly MIA for what feels like a million years (it may only have been a few months, but still). So many things have been happening in my life, some good, some bad, and it’s all just been quite an overwhelming year for me. I’ve changed so much in the past year, and I’ve grown exponentially as a person.

Due to everything that’s been going on, reading has become almost obsolete in my life – unless it’s something uni related. This has upset me to no end, but every time I try to sit down and dive into a book, I just can’t – I can’t focus, or immerse myself in the story at all. At first, I thought this might have been because I didn’t like the books I was choosing to read, but after a while I realised I was just in the world’s biggest circumstantial reading slump. Unfortunately, this reading slump has been kicking around since about July, and my blog’s suffered as a result.

The thing is though, just because I’m not in the mood to read at the minute, doesn’t mean I don’t still love writing, and being an active member of the blogging community. For this reason, I’m expanding and diversifying this blog. So, along with books, I’m going to be sharing with you my experiences travelling, photos I’ve taken, my general thoughts and feelings about things going on in the world, and in my life.

I know that these things might not interest you, since you’re probably only here for the book chats, and I’m sorry for that. But this is something I’ve been thinking about for a while and I’m finally ready to actually get the ball rolling with it. So there’s going to be no more schedules, or pressure, or deadlines – I’m going to be uploading when I feel like I have something interesting to share with you all. Obviously, I’ll try and keep the posts as regular as I can, but I don’t want my blog to start feeling like a job again, like an overbearing commitment.

So thank you to everyone who has stuck around over the past few months, it means so much to me that you have. My life is going to be getting pretty busy and hectic, but I can’t wait to start this new chapter with you (also, I just finished my exams so it’s time to partayyyyyyyy)! ❤

  1. Welcome back from your #1 cheerleader and fan! I thought of contacting you several times, but then realized answering would be one more thing you would HAVE to do. Know that we, your loyal readers, are not only interested in books but in YOU, our blogging friend, and of course we would be interested in your goings on in your life. I am really looking forward to your new posts! Rae

  2. Do what you can, recognize your limits. It is so easy to get stretched too thin and not realize it until you are about to break. It’s better to acknowledge that you need some time to breathe than to try and plow through and post something just because you feel obliged.

These days, finding the time to read something that isn’t required for my job or my classes is a challenge.

    Hang in there,
    Alan
