Book Shuffle: June

vghhhhjh

Hello lovelies, we’re halfway through June already! If you don’t already know what Book Shuffle is, it’s a monthly meme I host here on my blog. The rules are pretty simple: I click shuffle on my iTunes and whichever song first appears, I need to pair it with a book and state why. If you’d like to participate or find out more about Book Shuffle, then you can check out the meme’s official page.

So…. What randomly selected song do we have this month, huh????

Midnight Memories by One Direction

Yeah, I like some 1D songs. Leave your judgement at the door pls.

If you’ve never heard this song before (lol) then here’s the music video for it (I advise you watch it, it’s quite funny):

Now let’s get into the interesting part!

I am going to be pairing this song with…

Paper Towns by John Green

PaperTowns2009_6A

I’m going to touch upon some events which happen in this book so if you haven’t read it then I suggest you avert your eyes, there will be spoilers ahead!

Okay, okay, I know I’m stretching this one a little bit but it still makes sense in my mind. To me, this song symbolises a good night out with pals – a crazy night, but still pretty awesome. Especially one of those nights that you have limited memory of (you’ve all been there, I see you). So, because of all this, Midnight Memories reminds me a lot of that weird and wonderful night Margo and Q spent together at the start of Paper Towns. They don’t exactly have a party or anything, but they do go on a bit of an adventure and it all takes places around/just after midnight, if I’m remembering correctly. I can almost just imagine Margo and Q listening to this in the car on the way to enact their revenge, maybe even singing along. Plus, I’m pretty sure Q will never forget that night since he had been crushing on Margo since they were like seven and she just rolled into his bedroom as if that wasn’t weird as hell.

There you have it, another Book Shuffle! These posts are quite short but I love doing them, especially since I know it’s something that I’ve created and is quite unique (as far as I can tell). I hope you all have a lovely day and thank you so much for reading!cfghj

  1. Ok: This is your 71 year old friend here commenting. Have only seen One Direction perform live on the TODAY show, but liked hearing them sing and seeing them. BigBang has been one of my favorite shows (you had a little inserted pic of Sheldon)since it’s inception and I’ve never missed an episode. And yes, I wait for new shows once a week and from season to season. Ha!
How many copies of Paper Towns have I put out in my Little Free Library? At least four. I loved the book and hated the movie. Don’t know if I’m the Lone Ranger, but would ask your opinion on the book cvs, movie. Just curious, Dear, about what your answer will be.
I so enjoy reading your blog and to be so techie! Ah, sigh, if only….

    1. They are such talented boys, I kind of want them to become a band again, but at the same time I don’t. Harry, the lead singer, I guess, is my favourite and I’d love him to go solo 🙂
Haha I’ve actually got the opposite opinion of Paper Towns from you. The book took me a long time to read and I thought that it really dipped in the middle. I liked the first and last part of the story, but Q trying to find Margo for so long let the book down a bit for me. In regards to the movie, I had quite low expectations and ended up loving it! Since it wasn’t boring like I found the book, I preferred it… Now that’s something that doesn’t happen very often haha.
Rae, please send me an email (contact@clockworkbibliophile.com) with your details. I’d love to get to know you better and send you a postcard sometime! ☺️💕

  2. Yay! I have a postcard collection (extensive). Through my students I have postcards in antique cigar boxes and antique Whitman’s sampler (candy) boxes and boxes from the Dollar Tree store. I have “traveled” vicariously to almost every continent, many countries, and most of the states and have the postcards to prove it!
How do I send you my details to get the postcard without publishing it here? Just type in the “new” on my private e-mail and type in contact@clockworkbibliophile.com ? Or maybe I go to your home page and hit contact me? I’m not techie–have no idea. Ha!
