Okay lovelies, here is where I get to fangirl over my favourite meaningful quotes out of all the books I have read so far. I’m having to really restrain myself though because five is just not enough! It was also super difficult for me not to make the whole list consist of Dumbledore quotes, oops. Anyway, I’ve managed to whittle my favourites down to create this ultimate favourites list. Right, we’re about to get super deep so brace yourselves:
“Life is a book, and there are a thousand pages I have not read.”
― Cassandra Clare,
Yes, yes, my favourite quote is from a Shadowhunter related book; I am nothing if not predictable when it comes to these top fives. This little metaphor fills me with so much optimism for the future and that is the reason why it’s one of my faves. Plus, Will is the one who says this quote and he is my total bae.
“Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”
― Veronica Roth,
We all have fears and they suck. Sometimes everyone lets their fears control them instead of the other way about, but reading Divergent helped me put my fears into perspective and I’ll always be grateful for that. This is one of my favourite quotes about fear from the trilogy and it always makes me feel a little better when I’m down about my anxieties.
“If you’re good at it, and you love it, and it helps you navigate the river of the world, then it can’t be wrong.”
― Sherman Alexie,
This book is hilarious but it has its serious moments, like this one. Whenever I doubt a decision I’ve made or am about to make, I like to think of this quote because it’s true. I actually included this quote in my personal statement for my uni application to describe how I feel about business management and I got accepted, so woohoo! I guess that’s one of the reasons why this quote is so high up on my list.
“What if we could stop being different colors, different backgrounds, and just be in love?”
― E. Lockhart,
This quote struck a cord with me and I’m not even exactly sure why because I’ve never had an experience like this before. One thing I absolutely hate though is discrimination and this quote is really quite sweet and highlights a major issue in some societies. Even though it’s 2016 there’s still prejudice towards certain religions, races and people’s sexuality which is a damn shame.
“What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person.”
― John Green,
Although I’m not this book’s biggest fan, this one quote resonates with me quite deeply because I do idolise certain celebrities when I probably shouldn’t (Luke Hemmings). I also tend to think that normal people are ‘out of my league’ almost because sometimes I forget that they’re only human too and are nowhere near perfect.
Wow, that was difficult but there you have it, my top five. Although these are some of my favourite meaningful quotes, they’re not exactly my favourite moments or scenes in books but I still love them. Comment telling me what your favourite book quotes are and why.
Thanks for reading,
